The Music Department offers a minor in music. The curriculum consists of basic music theory, Western music history, as well as World Music, History of Rock and Roll, and Music in America.
Applied courses include piano classes, classes in conducting, as well as private lessons in piano, guitar, voice, and other instruments as needed.
Credit-bearing ensembles are the College Community Chorus, Wilmington College Chorale, and Collegium Musicum (early instrumental music ensemble). Other ensembles of interest are the Voices in Praise (gospel choir), and Heart. Music. Change. a choral group that performs to benefit local community organizations. The music department encourages participation by all members of the college community.
Most music department classes fulfill Wilmington College’s general education requirements.
