WC falls to Ohio Northern

ADA — Wilmington College dropped a 9-0 decision to Ohio Athletic Conference-leading Ohio Northern Tuesday afternoon.
The Quakers are now 0-8 in the OAC, 0-13 overall. Ohio Northern improves to 7-0 in the conference, 14-2 for the season.
The match of the day came at No. 1 singles, where Joe Freudenberg (Mason/Kings) was edged by Joey Frank in a three-set war. Frank took the opening set, 6-4, but Freudenberg rallied to even the match with a 7-6 (7-3) win in the second set. Frank squeaked out the win by taking the third set tiebreaker, 11-9. The loss was Freudenberg’s first of the season.
The Polar Bears opened the match by sweeping play on the doubles courts. Freudenberg and Josh Kincaid (Loveland/Goshen) fell to Frank and Nick Kowalczyk, 4-8, at the No. 1 position.
The Quakers will close the season with a home match against John Carroll at 1 p.m. Saturday.
