Quakers fall to JCU 3-0

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, OH (October 25, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers fell to host John Carroll University 3-0 on Saturday evening.

After a first half goal by Dustin Stelmak on an assist from Kevin Pap in the 13th minute, the Blue Streaks tacked on a pair of goals in the second half to pull away for the 3-0 victory.

In the 54th minute, Chris Heslep beat keeper Justin Saylor (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) on a feed from Milko Cecez to give the Blue Streaks a two goal advantage. In the 65th minute John Carroll added a little insurance when Pap recorded his second assist in the game, this time finding Cecez to push the lead to three with just under 25 minutes to play.

In the match, the Quakers were out shot by John Carroll 20-11.

Tending the net for the Quakers was Saylor who allowed three goals while recording seven saves in 90 minutes of play.

With the loss, the Quakers fall to 9-8-1 overall (4-3 OAC) on the season while John Carroll improves to 12-3-0 (6-1 OAC).

The next match for the Quakers is schedule for Wednesday, October 29 at home versus Ohio Northern University. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
