Quakers fall to John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Wilmington College Quakers lost to the Blue Streaks of John Carroll in a 1-0 final.

The game was scoreless until the 35th minute when Brandon DiGuilio scored off a corner kick that past the Quakers' goalkeeper, senior Just Saylor (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heighs). Alex Bernot and Daniel Hinkel recorded the assist. It wold ultimately be the winning goal for the Blue Streaks. The Quakers out-shot the John Carroll in both shots and shots on goal, 21-13 and 7-6, respectively.

Junior Chad Garman (Dayton/Chaminade Julienne) and sophomore J.T. Pitstick (Fairborn/Carroll) each led the way for the Green and White with four shots. Senior David Benedict (Cincinnati/North College Hill), junior Alex Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll), and freshman Oskar Johanssan (Jonkoping, Sweden) each chipped in three shots, while four other Quakers had one shot apiece.

Saylor saved five shots in the loss, while falling to 5-4-1 on the season..

The Green and White, with the loss, fall to 10-5-1 in the OAC, while John Carroll improves to 8-6-1 overall and 6-1-0 in the OAC.

The Quakers next game is Wednesday, October 26th when will host the Crusaders of capital University, kickoff set at 7:00 p.m.
