WIMINGTON, Ohio — The Wilmington College Quakers picked up their third consecutive shutout victory on Tuesday evening, defeating the Muskies of Muskingum College 2-0.

The Quakers scored the game's first goal when Alex Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll) took a pass from David Benedict (Cincinnati/North College Hill) and beat the keeper to the upper 90. The remainder of the first period would be played scoreless with the Quakers holding a 13-5 shot advantage.

In the second period, the Quakers struck again. This time Phil Walter (Columbus/Hamilton Township) scored his third goal of the season off a Michael Williams (Ft.Thomas, KY/Newport Central Catholic) assist, giving the Quakers the 2-0 victory.

Justin Saylor (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) played the first period stopping two shots and picking up his fifth win of the season. Brandon Bernhardt (Cincinnati/Anderson) relieved Saylor in the second period stopping two shots.

For the game, the Quakers held the advantage in shots 22-14.

With the win the Quakers improve to 10-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the OAC, while Muskingum falls to 7-8-1 overall and 2-4 in the OAC.

The next match for the Green and White is Saturday, October 22 when the team travels north to take on the Blue Streaks of John Carroll University, kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
