Quakers Blank Student Princes

Winning Streak extended to ten

(WC Press Release) WILMINGTON, OH (October 16, 2004) -- The 13th ranked Quakers extended their winning streak to ten tonight as they shutout the Student Princes of Heidelberg College, 2-0.

The Quakers and Student Princes played to a scoreless first period as the teams combined for seven shots on goal with Heidelberg holding a 4-3 edge. The first period also saw the two teams combine for a total of 20 fouls, including two yellow cards.

In the second period, the Quakers offense struck when Alex Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll) took a penalty kick to the upper 90 past the Heidelberg keeper. The Quakers scored their second and final goal when Mark Kinsel took a Marcus Carlson assist and flicked up and over the charging keeper.

Justin Saylor (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) picked up both the win and the shutout giving him three for the season and a record of 10-0-1.

The Quakers move to 12-1-1 on the year and 5-0 in the conference play while Heidelberg falls to 7-6-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in conference play.

The Quakers next game is on Wednesday, October 20th when the travel to New Concord, Ohio to take on the Muskies of Muskingum College with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m.
