Quakers roll in win versus BW

Kinsel records goal, assist in win

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, OH (October 11, 2003) -- The Wilmington College men's soccer team defeated the visiting Yellow Jackets of Baldwin-Wallace 5-1 Saturday evening at Charlie Gilhart Field.

The Quakers took a 1-0 lead into the half when senior Ryan Grant scored unassisted from the left of the box in the 32nd minute of the match.

In the second half, Wilmington took a two goal advantage when junior Greg Staten took a pass from Mark Kinsel to beat the visiting keeper in the 47th minute of the match.

The Yellow Jackets cut the lead to one on a goal from Louie Rolko on a feed from Pete Demichele, but an unintended header from a Baldwin-Wallace defender found the back of his own net to push the Quaker lead to 3-1.

In the 61st minute, David Benedict found Mark Kinsel in front of the net on a corner kick for an eventual header that would give Wilmington a three goal lead. The Quakers would tack on another insurance goal in the 82nd minute when Ben Williams connected from the left side of the box on a feed from Jonas Petterson to give the Quakers a commanding 5-1 lead that would stand as the final.

Wilmington goalkeeper Jason Saylor had three saves while allowing one goal in the contest in 90 minutes of match play.

With the win, the Quakers improve to 8-5-1 on the year while the Yellow Jackets fall to 10-3.

The next match for Wilmington is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15 at Muskingum College. Kickoff with the Muskies is set for 7:00 p.m.
