Sophomore records goal and assist in team’s shuout over Otterbein

WILMINGTON — Wilmington College sophomore forward Alex Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week in men’s soccer for his performance in the team’s 2-0 shutout victory over Otterbein.

Van der Sluijs scored the game winning goal for the squad in the first half before coming back and dishing out the assists for the second goal of the game.

On the year, the Quakers are 8-1-1 and currently ranked 16th in Division III. The next game for the Green and White is on Wednesday, October 6 as the team plays host to Marietta with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
