rout Bethany 6-0
Hawkins,
Garman score two goals each

Wilmington, OH (September 27, 2003) -- The Wilmington College men's
soccer team defeated Bethany College 6-0 at Charlie Gilhart Field
on Saturday.
In the first
half, the Quakers scored the deciding goal when Ben Hawkins (Springfield/North)
scored unassisted from 20 yards out to give Wilmington an early
1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Chad Garman (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne)
stole a pass in the box and beat the Bison goalkeeper to give Wilmington
a 2-0 advantage.
In the second
half, Wilmington's David Benedict (Cincinnati/North College Hill)
scored unassisted on a shot from the top of the box to give the
Quakers a 3-0 lead. The score remained unchanged until the 15 minute
mark when Hawkins took a steal from the top of the box and found
the back of the net to give the hosts a 4-0 lead.
The Quakers
would tack on two more goals in the game's final twelve minutes
as Garman scored his second goal of the game and Greg Staten (Mason/Mason)
fed Brain Deal (Sidney/Sidney) for the final score of the match.
Goalkeeper Ken
Howard (Xenia/Xenia) notched the shutout for the Quakers who out
shot Bethany 24-4 in the match.
With the win,
the Quakers improve to 5-5-1 overall on the season while Bethany
falls to 0-9-1. The next match for Wilmington is Saturday, October
4 as the team travels to Alliance
