Benedict named Co-OAC Player of the Week

Sophomore scores five goals in week

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, OH (September 22, 2003) -- Wilmington College sophomore forward David Benedict (Cincinnati/North College Hill) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Co-Player of the Week.

Benedict scored three goals in the team's win against Blackburn on Friday evening in the opening day of the Wilmington Kiwanis Soccer Classic before scoring two more in the Classic's finale, garnering him Offensive Player of the Classic honors.

On the season Benedict has scored eight goals in the team's five games to go with an assist. His 17 points leads the team while his 2.43 points per game and 1.14 goals per game are both second in the OAC.

Benedict shares the honor with sophomore goalkeeper Nate Christian of Baldwin-Wallace.

The Co-Player of the week honor is the second in as many weeks for the Green and White as the Quakers sophomore goalkeeper Justin Saylor (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) won the honor a week ago.

The Quakers currently have a record of 4-4-1 overall. Their next game is set for Wednesday, October 24 when the team travels to Springfield, Oho to take the pitch against Wittenberg University with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m.
