Quakers fall to Transylvania 1-0 in overtime

Hosts out-shoot opponents 16-10 in game

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, OH (September 16, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers were unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to Transylvania College in men's action on Tuesday evening.

The Quakers out-shot the Pioneers 16-10, but the Transy defense held strong.

The two teams played through a scoreless first 90 minutes with the Quakers holding a shot advantage of 14-9 through regulation. In the first overtime Aaron Wathen of Transylvania took a pass from Damien Sweeney in the middle of the box and beat the Quaker keeper for the game winning goal.

With the shutout, Transylvania has yet to be scored on in the 2003 season.

The Quakers fall to 2-4-1 while Transylvania improves to 4-0-1.

The next game for the Green and White is on Friday, September 19 when the team plays in the first game of the Wilmington Kiwanis Classic at 8:00 p.m. at Charlie Gilhart Field.
