Quakers named All-Ohio
Garman and Saylor named to First Team

WILMINGTON,
Ohio The Wilmington College Quakers put four soccer players
on the 2004 All-Ohio Soccer Team, led by Chad Garman (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne)
and Justin Saylor (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights), who were
selected to the first team.
Garman
and Saylor were joined by Eric Schultz (Cincinnati/Anderson) and
Alex Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll), who were both named to the
second team.
Garman
led the offensive attack for the Quakers on the season with a team-high
33 points, scoring 13 goals, a team-high while dishing out seven
assists from the midfield position. The Quakers scored 53 goals
on the season in their 22 games, scoring 34 more than their opponents.
He was also named a National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA)
First Team All-America squad, while being named the OAC Forward
of the Year.
Saylor,
a goalkeeper, ended the season with a 0.76 goals against average,
while picking up seven shutouts on the year, including four in his
last five games of the year. Saylor was named the Ohio Athletic
Conference Goalkeeper of the Year.
Schultz,
a defender, helped the team give up just 19 goals on the year, while
picking up 11 shutouts in their 22 games. He also gave out one assist
while playing in every game on the year.
Van
der Sluijs, a forward, scored 10 goals while dishing out a team-best
10 assists for 30 total points, good for second on the squad. He
was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Co-Forward of the Year.
Head
Coach Bud Lewis was named the Division III Ohio Coach of the Year,
helping the team to a 17-3-2 record in his 30th season as coach,
winning his 400th career game in the process.
