Four Quakers named All-Ohio Saylor,
Alex Van der Sluijs, Garman,
In his senior season, Saylor (Cleveland Heights) reasserted himself as one of the nation's top goal keepers, recording 57 saves and a 0.92 goals against average. "Justin was the premier Division III keeper in Ohio," WC head coach Bud Lewis said. "His stats clearly indicate that he was the most effective keeper in the state." Van der Sluijs (Dayton/Carroll), always one of the top players on the pitch, contributed four goals and two assists during an injury-plagued season. Garman (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne), coming off an All-American season in 2004, scored three goals and assisted on four others from his midfield/forward positions in 2005. Johansson (Jonkoping, Sweden), one of the top freshmen in the Great Lakes Region, lived up to the reputation he brought from Jonkoping, Sweden, by leading the Quakers with nine goals last fall. Lewis said he was pleased with results of the coaches' voting, but he is perhaps more excited about the prospect of Van der Sluijs, Garman and Johansson returning for the 2006 season. "We have
a lot to accomplish next season, and we have a very hungry group of players
who are not satisfied with the results last season. We also know we played
very well down the stretch last year. We started 4-4, then went 9-1-1
the rest of the way. That's something we hope to build on this fall."
