ADA – The Wilmington College men’s track team earned all-conference honors in three events Saturday as they finished sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference championships at Ohio Northern University.

“We hoped for better,” said head coach Ron Combs. “We have to compete better as a team than we did this week.”

One day after earned All-OAC honors in the weight throw, senior Mason Metts (Pomeroy, OH/Meigs) finished second in the shot put to pick up second-team laurels with a toss of 52-08.25. He was in line to win the event until Mount Union’s Sean Donnelly cranked out a toss of 55-09.25.

Junior Christian Patterson (Cincinnati, OH/Norwood) was third in the high jump with a distance of 6-08.75. The 4x200 team of sophomore Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton), sophomore Jake Sydnor (Batavia, OH/Clermont Northeastern), junior Nate Godby (Goshen, OH/Goshen) and freshman Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) finished third for all-conference laurels.

“We haven’t been a factor in the 4x2 in a few years but we have made some strides in the last few weeks,” said Combs.

Other Wilmington athletes to score in the league meet were Duncan and Kilgo (200m), Sydnor (400m), Jake Simpkins (800m), Rickey Schafer (pole vault) and the 4x400 team of Sydnor, Simpkins, Kilgo and Godby.

She finished seventh in the 60 meter hurdles and was a part of two relays, 4x200 and 4x400. The 4x200 team of Murphy, Kelsie Redway (Toledo, OH/Whitmer), Jadie Riewoldt (Morrow, OH/Little Miami), and Liz Delehanty (Euclid, OH/Villa Angela-St. Joseph) was seventh, while the 4x400 team of Murphy, Redway, Veronica Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) and Chelsea Sites (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) was sixth.
