Brian Yauger begins his first season as defensive coordinator for WC, replacing current head coach Barry Wulf at the helm of the defense.

Prior to coming to WC, Yauger served as defensive coordinator for the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. While there, he coached the defense to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) title in turnovers while also leading the lead in defensive third down conversion rate.

He coached the defensive line and linebackers during his stint with Columbia University of the Ivy League from 2000-02.

In addition to helping coach the defense, he worked with the special teams for the Cowboys, the punt return team led the Big 12 and was fifth in the nation in punt returns while ranking third in the Big 12 in punt yardage.

Prior to OSU, he worked with the offensive and defensive line at Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College in 1996 and ¹97. ³With Brian as our defensive coordinator, we bring one of the best teachers of defensive football in the country,² said Wulf. ³Our defensive system will not change, it will remain very aggressive, very attacking.² Yauger lettered three years at Hardin-Simmons College as a defensive lineman.

He was a member of a team that won pair of conference championships, advancing to the NAIA playoffs three times, including a pair of quarterfinals appearances in 1992 and 1994 and advancing to the semi-finals in 1993.
