Corey Smith named OAC Offensive Player of the Week

Freshman passes for 215 yards in debut

WILMINGTON — Wilmington College freshman quarterback Corey Smith (Leechburg, PA/Kiski Area) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his performance on October 23 against Otterbein, a 20-13 victory.

Smith, in his first collegiate game, was 15-of-29 passing for 215 yards and a touchdown. He also gained 57 yards on the ground on 13 carries, scoring the winning touchdown with 1:19 to play in the game.

The Quakers are currently 3-4 on the season and 3-3 in the OAC. Their next game is on Saturday, October 30 when the team travels to Marietta, Ohio to face off against the Pioneers of Marietta College with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.
