Jones named OAC Player of the Week

Freshman returns kick for touchdown against Mount Union

WILMINGTON — Wilmington College freshman wide receiver Marque Jones (Wilmington/Wilmington) has been named the Co-Special Teams Player of the Week in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Against Mount Union, the defending NCAA Division III Runner-up, Jones returned four kicks for 149 yards, including a 93-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

On the season, Jones has six kick returns for 201 yards, an average of 33.5 to go with his score.

This is the second consecutive week that the Quakers have had a special teams player of the week as senior wide receiver Deon Short (Cincinnati/Mt. Healthy) returned a kick for a touchdown against Heidelberg.

The Quakers are currently 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the OAC. Their next game is on Saturday, October 16, as the team travels to University Heights, Ohio to face off against the Blue Streaks of John Carroll University.
