Short named Co-OAC Special Teams Player of the Week

Short picks up 89-yard kickoff return touchdown to win honor

(WC Press Release) WILMINGTON — Wilmington College senior wide receiver Deon Short (Cincinnati/Mt. Healthy) was named the Co-OAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the team’s 26-14 homecoming victory over Heidelberg.

Short had three kickoff returns in the game for 136 yards including an 89-yard kickoff return to help turn the momentum after Heidelberg took a seven-point lead in the third quarter.

On the year, Short is second in the OAC with a kickoff return average of 29.8 yards per return.

The Quakers are currently 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in the OAC. Their next game is on Saturday, October 9 as the team travels to Alliance, Ohio to face off against the 2003 NCAA Division III National Runner-up Mount Union College with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
