Men's Basketball releases 2012-13 schedule
September 13, 2012
WILMINGTON – The Wilmington College men’s basketball team has released their 2012-13 schedule. (Full Schedule)
Two tournaments highlight the schedule, including the Lopata Classic on the campus of Washington University (MO). The tournament features perennial powers Illinois Wesleyan and host Washington, which WC will play in the opening round.
"This is as challenging a schedule that Wilmington College has ever played,” said head coach K.C. Hunt. “Our non-conference schedule features games against some of the best division III teams in the country. This schedule should prepare us very well for the always tough OAC."
The Fightin’ Quakers will play regional rivals Thomas More and the College of Mount St. Joseph in non-conference action. Additionally, Wilmington travels to Oxford, Ohio for a meeting with the Miami RedHawks.
"Playing against a Division I team in Miami is a great opportunity,” said Hunt. “Our kids are very excited to see how they measure up against a tradition rich Division I opponent like the RedHawks."
Wilmington returns four starters, including first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Malcolm Heard II, from a team that lost in the OAC championship game. The Fightin’ Quakers have eight of their top nine scorers from a season ago.
They kick off the season 6 p.m. November 16 against McDaniel in the Allegheny Invitational.
