On June 22, 2007, K.C. Hunt was named head men’s basketball coach at Wilmington College. An assistant coach for the Quakers the past three seasons, Hunt succeeds Scott Reule, who has accepted the athletic director position at Benjamin Logan Local Schools after two seasons at the helm of the WC men’s team.
“We wish Scott good luck and we are fortunate to have K.C. as part of our men’s basketball program,” Wilmington College Director of Athletics Terry Rupert said. “K.C. has played an integral role in the success our men’s team has enjoyed the last two seasons. He is respected by his players and his peers. He is an outstanding coach who understands what embodies Division III student-athletics.
The Quakers posted a combined 33-20 record over the past two seasons and were nationally ranked for the first time in team history. Hunt — who was a two-year captain for the Wichita State University Shockers — said he is committed to continuing Wilmington’s winning ways.
“I am very appreciative of the tremendous opportunity Dr. Rupert and (Wilmington College) President (Dan) DiBiasio have given me,” Hunt said. “This is a wonderful program to be involved with. We have a great nucleus of student-athletes coming back. We want to have a classy program that does things the right way. We will play harder than anybody and give the maximum effort, no matter what the score is. That’s what we’re all about.”
A 1995 graduate of The Ohio State University, Hunt coached at St. Lawrence University, Dublin Coffman and Perry high schools prior to joining Wilmington’s staff in 2004.
