Stirling named OAC Player of the Week

Senior leads Quakers to key wins, national ranking

TWINSBURG — Wilmington College senior forward Eric Stirling (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the week.

Stirling averaged 16.5 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Quakers defeated two top-25 teams last week to move into first place in the OAC and achieve their first-ever national ranking. The Quakers are ranked 17th this week by D3hoops.com.

Stirling scored 19 points, pulled down five rebounds, handed out four assists and recorded four steals as Wilmington won at No. 22 Ohio Northern, 65-59, Wednesday. On Saturday, Stirling scored 14 points, collected three rebounds, dished out two assists and had two steals as the Quakers won at No. 12 Baldwin-Wallace, 64-61, to move to 5-1 in the OAC, 12-1 overall.

Stirling, who has been the OAC Player of the Week twice this season, is averaging 18.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. He has led the Quakers in scoring 12 times and has been the team's top rebounder in eight games.

Stirling and the Quakers will take an eight-game winning streak into Wednesday's OAC matchup with Muskingum at Fred Raizk Arena. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
