Quakers fall to non-conference foe Franklin

David Guy scores a career-high 21 points in loss

(WC Press Release) Franklin, IN (December 16, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers fall to 1-7 overall with an 86-64 loss to Franklin College on Tuesday evening.

David Guy (Webb City, MO/Webb City) scored a career-high 21 points in the loss for the Quakers on 8-of-10 shooting in the game. The Quakers fell behind by 12 points, seven and a half minutes into the game at 20-8 before the visitors went on a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to three six minutes later. Franklin answered back with a 16-4 run over the last six minutes of the half to take a 40-25 lead into the locker room.

Early in the second half the Grizzlies opened the lead to 20 points and cruised the rest of the way in the 22-point victory.

Guy led the Quakers scorers with 21 points while Deon Short (Cincinnati/Mt. Healthy) chipped in 10 in the losing effort. Short had a team-best six rebounds while freshman Mike King (Washington C.H./Miami Trace) pulled down five rebounds while Short and Guy each dished out three assists.

Franklin was led by Justin Castelli and Nick Kane who each scored 23 points while Alan Davidson scored a dozen and Zane Bowman chipped in 10.

With the loss the Quakers fall to 1-7 on the season as Franklin improves to 5-3 with the victory.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, December 20, when the team plays host to nationally ranked John Carroll University at Fred Raizk Arena, with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
