(WC Press Release) Wilmington, OH (January 24, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Quakers held a one-point, 33-32 halftime lead, but were unable to keep pace in the second half as the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin-Wallace College out-ran the Green and White to a 44-27 second half score.

Deon Short (Cincinnati/Mt. Healthy) and David Guy (Webb City, MO/Webb City) led the way with 16 points each for the Green and White.

The game started out slowly for the Quakers, as the Yellow Jackets ran out to a nine-point, 14-5 lead, five minutes into the game. The Quakers then opened a 17-7 run taking a one-point lead. B-W took the lead back until Guy hit a three-point basket with six seconds in the half, giving the Quakers a one-point halftime lead.

In the second half, the Quaker lead grew to as many as three with 13:47 to play in the game. B-W fought back and opened a 12-2 run taking a seven-point lead three minutes later. Four points would be as close as the team would come the rest of the way, as the Yellow Jackets scored a dozen straight to end the game.

The team was led by Guy and Short who put in 16 points each, while Stephen Gee (West Milton/Milton-Union) scored 10. Mike Umpleby (Columbus/Centennial) chipped in with eight points off of the bench.
