Pair of
career highs not enough for Quakers against #17 Capital
WILMINGTON,
Ohio (January 22, 2003) The Quakers of Wilmington College had
a pair of career-high scoring nights, but it was not enough as the
Green and White dropped a conference battle to #17 ranked Capital
University 86-69. Stephen Gee (West Milton/Milton-Union) and Dave
Hudson (Bucyrus/Col. Crawford) scored 19 and 16 points respectively
to record career highs.
Capital (13-3,
8-1 OAC) never trailed in the game, as the team jumped out to an
8-2 lead just three minutes into the game. The first half lead grew
to as many as 16 in the game before the Quakers went on a 12-3 run
the cut the deficit to seven with two minutes left in the period
before ending the half down by 11 at 38-27.
Wilmington
(3-13, 1-8 OAC) cut the Capital lead to nine 1:30 into the half
before the visitors from Bexley worked their way up to a 20-point
lead with 11:14 left in the game. The Quakers would not give up,
and went on a 16-4 run over the next five minutes to cut the Capital
lead to eight with 5:35 left to play in the game. The Green and
White got to within seven twice in the contest but that would be
as close as the team would come, as Capital ended the game on a

Gee led the
way for the Quakers scoring 19 points while Hudson scored 16, all
in the second half. Will Bruce (Cleveland/Benedictine) scored 11

six rebounds while Greg Liggens (Toledo/Scott) grabbed five. Bruce
and Liggens each dished out a team-leading three assists in the
