Senior pitcher Clayton Reynolds threw a five-hit complete game as Wilmington College closed its season with a 2-1 win over Baldwin-Wallace in the second game of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday.

Baldwin-Wallace won game one, 12-3. Wilmington ends the season 7-11 in the OAC and 15-19 overall. Baldwin-Wallace closes out at 6-12 and 19-19.

The win brought the curtain down on the WC playing careers of Reynolds (Blanchester) and fellow seniors Troy Brege (Hanover, Pa./Gettysburg), Ben Buehner (Germantown/Valley View), Tom Harter (Westlake), Matt Meyer (Columbus, Ind./Columbus East), Matt Morris (Hamilton) and Jimmy Wolverton (London/Madison Plains).

"We have seven seniors this year and that's the most we've had since I've been coaching at Wilmington," WC head coach Tony Haley said. "From the first one to the seventh one, they have been great seniors. They all played big parts on the team. I don't know if I'll ever have another group of seniors like these guys. They are special players and special people."

In the opener, BW scored three runs in the opening inning and never looked back.

Junior first baseman Mike Kroeger (Cincinnati/Elder) had two of Wilmington's seven hits, including his sixth home run of the season.

In the nightcap, junior center fielder Taylor Clark (Morrow/McCallie, Tenn.) singled, stole second and scored on third baseman Buehner's single. Second baseman Wolverton made it a 2-0 game with an RBI single in the second.

In raising his record to 4-1, Reynolds limited the Yellow Jackets to one extra-basehit, a solo homer in the top of the sixth.

"Last year, we knew something was wrong when Clayton hurt his arm," Haley said. "It was so nice to see him pitch like he did today. He was in control the whole game. They hit one ball hard, the home run. He is going to be missed."
