DAYTON — Junior right-hander Ronnie Campbell (Lynchburg/Lynchburg-Clay) pitched eight innings of seven-hit ball to lead Wilmington College past Cedarville, 4-1, at Fifth-Third Field Wednesday.

The Quakers are now 12-9 on the season and Cedarville drops to 11-24.

"It was nice to play at Fifth-Third; it was a pretty awesome setting," WC head coach Tony Haley said. "We got to take batting practice on the field. We hit a ton of home runs in BP. I thought, 'This is going to be something', but it was just a well-played game. Ronnie Campbell pitched eight strong innings. He only walked one and he struck out four. He kept us in the game."

Wilmington scored two runs in the third and two more in the fifth. Senior third baseman Ben Buehner (Germantown/Valley View) had two triples to pace Wilmington's eight-hit attack. Junior center fielder Taylor Clark (Morrow/McCallie, Tenn.) added a triple and two RBI.

The Quakers continued their solid defensive play by turning three double plays, including a twin-killing that ended the game and gave Kenny Branscom (Chillicothe) the save in relief of Campbell.

The win raises Campbell's record to 3-0.

"Our pitching staff has been performing well," Haley said. "We ask our pitchers to give us a chance, keep us in the game. They know what kind of offense we have. I can't ask any more of them."

The Quakers play an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Union.
