(WC Press Release) UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio (April 17, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Quaker baseball team ended a seven-game conference losing streak with a 17-3 victory over John Carroll University in the second game of the double header.

In the first game, am 11-1 loss to the Blue Streaks, the Quakers and Blue Streaks were tied at one after the top of the third inning, before JCU erupted for six runs, giving the hosts a commanding 7-1 lead. The Blue Streaks added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth before holding on for the 10-run win.

In the afternoon finale, the Quakers held a 9-0 lead after two and a half innings, and never looked back, scoring in five of the game's seven innings, leaving the game with the 14-run victory.

Jimmy Wolverton (London/Madison Plains) was 4-for-6 batting in the double header, while Chad Abbott (Hillsboro/Hillsboro) was 3-for-6. Aaron Lawson (Hebron/Lakewood) knocked in five runs on the day while Abbott chipped in with four in the split.

With the split, the Quakers' record goes to 13-8 overall and 1-5 in the OAC while John Carroll goes to 14-8 overall and 6-2 in league play.

The next game for the Green and White is on Tuesday, April 20 when the team plays host to the Muskies of Muskingum College in a double header starting at 1:00 p.m.
