Wilmington falls in baseball "Quaker Bowl"

Myriad of errors dooms WC

(WC Press Release) WILMINGTON, Ohio (April 15, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Quakers fell to the Earlham Quakers 11-5 in the baseball version of the "Quaker Bowl" hosted by WC.

Earlham got on the board first in the game, putting up two runs to start the contest. WC fought back and scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning before adding another run in the bottom of the third.

WC kept their lead until the top of the sixth inning, when the visitors from Richmond erupted with seven runs, giving them a 9-4 lead.

WC got a run back in the bottom of the sixth, but Earlham answered with two more, giving them an 11-5 lead that they kept for the remainder of the game.

The Quakers managed just six hits in the game, with no WC batter getting more than one hit in the contest.

With the loss, the Quakers fall to 12-7 on the season, while Earlham snaps a 12-game losing streak with the win.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, April 17, as the team travels north to face off against John Carroll University starting at 1:00 p.m.
