Quakers defeat Earlham 10-6

RICHMOND, In. (April 10, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers defeated the Quakers of Earlham College by a 10-6 score on Thursday evening at McBride Stadium in Richmond, Indiana.

WC scored two runs in both the second, third, and fourth innings, giving them a 6-0 lead before a four-run sixth inning gave the visitors a commanding 10-0 lead.

Earlham fought back, scoring six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, cutting the deficit to four, but that would be all the scoring for Earlham, as the Green and White came away with a 10-6 non-conference victory.

Leading the way from the plate for WC was Joe Rosato (Mason/Mason) who batted 2-for-3 while Tom Harter (Westlake/Westlake), Justin Evans (Franklin/Franklin), and Jimmy Wolverton (London/Madison Plains) each were 2-for-4 from the plate. Luke Ogden (Peebles/Peebles) pitched seven-and-one-third of an inning, picking up his second win of the season.

The win brings the Quakers' record to 16-5-1 on the season while Earlham falls to 6-13-1.

The next game for the Green and White is on Friday, April 11 when the team travels to Cedarville, to face off against the Yellow Jackets with the first pitch set for 4:00 p.m.
