(WC Press Release) TIFFIN, Ohio (April 3, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Quakers dropped their OAC openers to Heidelberg, falling in both ends of a double header, 9-3 in the first game and 7-5 in the second.

In the opening game, the Quakers got on the board quickly with a run in the first inning and held the one-run lead until the third inning when the Student Princes put up two runs. After a scoreless top of the fourth inning, Heidelberg erupted for five runs in the fourth, giving them a commanding 7-2 lead, as they cruised the rest of the way in the 9-3 win.

In the second game the Quakers found themselves in a 4-0 hole after two innings before the team fought back, and eventually tied the game at five after the top of the sixth inning. The lead would be short lived, however, as the host Student Princes rallied and scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in picking up the 7-5 win.

Over the afternoon, the team was led by Chad Abbott (Hillsboro/Hillsboro), who went a combined 4-6, while Ben Buehner (Germantown/Valley View) and Aaron Lawson (Lakewood/Hebron) went 2-6 on the afternoon.

With the pair of losses, the team falls to 9-3 overall and 0-2 in the OAC while Heidelberg improves to 13-3-1 and 2-0 in league action.

The next game for the Quakers is on Sunday, April 4, 2004, when the team travels south to take on Georgetown (KY).
