Quakers
run past Rams 9-4
WILMINGTON (April 3, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers used
a six-run first inning to run past the Temple Baptist Rams 9-4 on
Thursday.
The
Quakers erupted for six runs on nine hits in the bottom of the first
inning, and never looked back the rest of the way, scoring a run
in the second, fourth and seventh inning.
Joe
Rosato (Mason/Mason) led the way, batting 3-for-3 while Tom Harter
(Westlake/Westlake), Justin Evans (Franklin/Franklin) and Aaron
Lawson (Hebron/Lakewood) each batted 3-for-5. Brent Bird (Columbus/Hilliard
Darby) was 2-for-2 from the plate. Lawson and Bird each crossed
home plate twice to lead the team while Chad Abbott (Hillsboro/Hillsboro)
knocked in a team-leading two RBI's. John Elsen (Fairfield/Fairfield)
pitched seven innings, not allowing an earned run while striking
out seven batters, improving his record to 2-2 on the year.
The
win brings the team's record to 14-4-1 on the season. The next game
for the Green and White is on Saturday, April 5 when the team travels
to Westerville to face off against the Otterbein Cardinals with
the first pitch of the double header set for 1:00 p.m.
