Quakers improve to 9-1 overall with 5-4 win over Defiance

Aaron Lawson knocks in winning runs in the ninth inning

(WC Press Release) DEFIANCE, Ohio (March 28, 2004) ­ The Wilmington College Quakers improved to 9-1 on the 2003-04 season with a 5-4 victory over Defiance College in Defiance.

The Quakers got the winning run of the game in the ninth inning when Aaron Lawson (Lakewood/Hebron) singled in a pair of runs in the ninth inning, giving the visitors the one-run lead that they would keep for the remainder of the game.

Clayton Reynolds (Blanchester/Blanchester) started the game for the Quakers while Burt Cox (Fairborn/Fairborn) picked up the victory, pitching the last one and two-thirds of an inning, increasing his record to 3-0 on the season.

With the win the Quakers improve to 9-1.

The next game for the Green and White is on Tuesday, March 30 when the team plays host to Mt. S. Joseph with the first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
