  Quakers drop two to Mt. Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio ­ The Wilmington College Quakers (12-12, 2-6) dropped both ends of a double header on Monday, losing by scores of 8-6 and 11-0.

In the first game, the 8-6 defeat, the Quakers scored first in the game with a run in the third inning before Mt. Union (15-9-1, 6-3-1) countered with two of their own in the same inning. The Green and White tied it up in the fourth inning with another run, as the game remained knotted at two until the hosts scored five runs in the fifth inning, grabbing a lead they would not relinquish. The Purple Raiders scored one more in the sixth inning before Wilmington would rally, scoring four in the top of the seventh, but the Quakers fell two runs short in the inning.

The team was led by Justin Evans (Franklin/Franklin) who batted three-for-five. Aaron Lawson (Hebron/Lakewood) batted two-for-three as Josh Ritter (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) and Joe Rosato (Mason/Mason) each went two-for-four from the plate. Lawson and Rosato each had a team high two RBI's as Tim Hunt (Sardinia/Whiteoak) scored a team high two runs. John Elsen (Fairfield/Fairfield) picked up just his second loss of the season, pitching four and a third inning, allowing seven runs.

In the afternoon finale, the Quakers were handcuffed to just four hits in the game. Mount Union scored two runs in the first inning and then one more in the second and third before erupting with six in the fourth. Al Ledford (Blanchester/Blanchester) had half of the team's hits, as he batted two-for-three in the game to go along with three stolen bases. Lawson and Ritter recorded the team's other two hits, as each batted one-for-three. Derrick Wellington (Unioto/Chillicothe), now 3-4 on the year, picked up the loss for the Green and White as he pitched three innings while striking out one.

The Green and White are next set to compete at home against Ohio Northern University on Wednesday, April 17 with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
