  Fast start paces Quakers in victory

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wilmington College Quakers used four runs in each of the first two innings to run away with a 12-6 victory.

The Quakers put a four-spot in each of the first two innings as the Tigers of Wittenberg used three different pitchers to try to cool down the Wilmington bats. The Quakers scored another run in the fourth, two more in the sixth and finished off with their 12th run in the sixth inning.

Four different Quaker batters went 2-4 as Justin Evans (Franklin/Franklin), Brent Bird (Hilliard/Hilliard Darby), Josh Ritter (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) and Sean Harshman (Dayton/Carroll) each hit .500 in the game while Joe Rosato (Mason/Mason) went 2-5. Ritter knocked in a team high three RBIšs as five Wilmington athletes scored two runs.

Derrick Wellington (Chillicothe/Chillicothe) picked up the win for Wilmington, pitching a complete game while strinking out two.

The next game for the Green and White is Thursday, March 21 as the team takes on the Bluffton Beavers in a game that was postponed from the 20th because of rain.
