TWINSBURG — Wilmington College senior second baseman Jimmy Wolverton (London/Madison Plains) has been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference baseball team. Wolverton was one of nine student-athletes selected for the first team.

To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point-average, be a starter or key reserve and be in least his/her second year of participation in the sport.

An Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention selection in 2005, Wolverton was a leader on the diamond, in the classroom and throughout the Wilmington College campus.

The two-time team captain started every game this spring, hit .308 and committed just three errors while teaming with all-conference shortstop Greg Krieger to form one of the OAC's top double play combinations.

A sports management major, Wolverton maintained a 3.70 grade-point-average.

At Wilmington College, Wolverton was on the dean's list five semesters, was a member of the Green Key Scholar Club and was the Sports Management Senior Male Student of the Year. He also was president of Wilmington's Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was Wilmington's SAAC representative to the OAC.

Wolverton plans to attend graduate school at The Ohio State University to obtain a Master of Arts degree in sports and exercise management.
