To apply for admission into the Master’s in Education degree program, students must file the following materials in the Office of Graduate Studies, Pyle Center Box 1311, Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. Students have one semester to submit all materials for admission. The Office of Graduate Studies is located on the first floor of College Hall on the Wilmington College campus.
Application for Admission: Application forms may be obtained from the Office of Graduate Studies (937) 383-8512 or (937) 382-6661, ext. 512 or 623, or online.
Transcripts: Applicants must request that all official transcripts be forwarded to the Office of Graduate Studies.
Academic Requirements (effective September 13, 2004): In order to be admitted into the M.Ed. program, applicants must have received a bachelor's level degree from an accredited institution of higher education. In addition, s/he must: (1) have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher; and (2) forward two letters of recommendation attesting to the candidate’s suitability for graduate study in education to the Office of Graduate Studies. Candidates whose grade point averages fall below 3.0 may also apply to the program but may be asked to submit scores from the GRE or the Miller Analogies Test in support of the application.
Biographical Essay. Applicants must complete a biographical essay which is attached to the official Application for Admission.
Writing Sample: Applicants must submit a spontaneous writing sample in the form of an essay about their career experience and aspirations. This sample must be scheduled in the Office of Graduate Studies.
Additional Requirements: Students seeking licensure from the Ohio Department of Education as Reading Specialists may be required to submit additional admission materials. Please consult the Office of Graduate Studies for additional information.
No more than nine semester hours may be transferred from other institutions into Wilmington College's M.Ed. program.
Graduate students who wish to take graduate or undergraduate courses without pursuing a degree may seek admission as non-degree students. This includes students who are interested in pursuing licensure in the special education track of the program without the M.Ed. Admission procedures for such students are outlined below:
