Commencement takes place on Saturday, May 11th. The procession enters Hermann Court at 10:15 a.m.; the ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. Guests should be seated by 10:00 a.m. Tickets are required for every person attending, including children and infants.
Candidates will gather in the Boyd Cultural Arts Center at 8:45 a.m. to form the academic procession for Commencement. Candidates must be prompt. There will be a processional and a recessional march.
Immediately following Commencement, graduates and their guests are invited to attend a reception under the tent on Collett Mall.
Baccalaureate is on Friday, May 10th at 5:30 p.m. Families are invited and encouraged to attend. It includes both campus and student speakers who will focus on the religious and humanitarian values that are central to the mission of Wilmington College. Caps and gowns are not worn for Baccalaureate services; "business casual" is appropriate attire. Candidates will gather in the Boyd Cultural Arts Center lobby at 5:00 p.m. to form the procession in the Hugh Heiland Theater (College Street, halfway between Rombach and Elm).
Professional photographers will take a panoramic class photo after rehearsal on Friday, May 4th. On Commencement day, individual photos are taken of the graduate shaking hands with the president and there is an opportunity after the ceremony for families and friends to have their photos taken with graduates.
Because we provide professional photography services, guests will not be permitted on the main gymnasium floor during the ceremony.
Candidates will be given information on ordering photographs. You also may contact the photographer directly.
