What a busy time October is! I’m not sure what it is about October, but it seems a large proportion of events occur this month, whether is it midterm exams or fun campus events. A fairly large portion of my senior year in the Athletic Training Program started last week: I began working with my senior sport. My sport is Men’s Basketball, and I will be with them the entire season. As the senior with the sport, I will get to experience everything first hand just as a certified athletic trainer would. Of course we are still supervised, but we are the first ones that get to participate in all of the learning experiences. From talking with seniors in previous years, they seem to think that the senior sport is one of the best clinical experiences because of the amount of time you get to spend with the athletes and how you get to see the progression from the beginning of the season to the end. I am also glad that the season happens while the weather is cold outside! It will definitely give me something to do over winter break.
