This past weekend was full of activities. Friday night I was on duty in The Commons. That means I that I had to periodically check the apartment grounds from 9pm until 1 am. (For those of you who are new to my blog, I am a Resident Assistant in Friends Hall and that means that I have to be on duty sometimes.) Thankfully, there was nothing too major going on except for Family Weekend, so the apartments were pretty quiet. Once duty was over, I headed for bed to be ready for Saturday.
The Columbus Crew professional soccer team played their home opening game Saturday. Earlier in the week I had procured tickets from APB (Activities Programming Board) for only 1$! Normally these tickets run around $30. Around 3pm Crew fans piled into a campus van and headed to the stadium. Around 7pm the game ended at a 1-1 tie. Although we did not get to celebrate a win, students enjoyed fellowship and time off campus.
A Sunday afternoon lunch with the International Club finished off my weekend of festivities. I and other International Club members traveled to an Indian restaurant called Knak near Cincinnati. I ordered a dish called Lamb Panjabi. I definitely recommend it! Lamb Panjabi consisted of lamb and mixed vegetables in a tasty sauce, served along side a bed of rice. I also ordered a side of a special bread called “naan.” Normally naan is plain, but I chose one that had nuts and raisins mixed into the batter. This was delicious as well. Following the meal we went to Jungle Jim’s International Food market in order to purchase drinks to serve at relay for life.
Getting off campus can be hard sometimes, but just keep your eyes open for activity sign-ups or join a club! The International Club is always seeking new members! Meetings are Thursdays at 12:30 in Thomas Lounge.
