Spring

It really just occurred to be how much different the spring semester is from fall semester. In 3 weeks and one day, we will be on spring break. I feel like the semester just started! Not that I’m complaining or anything, its just considerably different. I won’t be going on a spring break trip, but I am attending Spring Lobby weekend in Washington, DC from March 16-19. Each year, Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) hosts a weekend where college students get to learn the lobby process and actually lobby on Capitol Hill about an issue important to Friends (Quakers). I attended my freshman year and had a blast, and am really looking forward to going this year (Junior year). In addition to the lobbying, I’m hoping to find some concerts and maybe even open mic poetry in the DC area (since we have the nights free). I also hope to sample some local [vegan] cuisine and see all of the monuments again. It is always fun to leave town for a bit, especially when we get to stay in our nations capitol for a very reasonable price ($175 for 4 days, including lobby sessions during the day). This year, the topic deals with environment and conflict (more on that later).
