Hot air balloon flame, a favorite at every HoliDazzle parade
Contributed by Brad Fuller
One advantage of living in Wilmington and going to college here is that you get to experience everything that the town has to offer during the holiday season. Many of these events take place during breaks and most students do not get to see them. However if possible, I would recommend all of them. Last night was the first event of the season, the Hometown HoliDazzle parade. This is a relatively new event, but it is now a tradition in which all of the streets in the downtown area are closed off for an afternoon festival with a parade following. For the past 5 years, it has been a tradition to start off the holiday season the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The parade even ends with Santa arriving!
While the break from school was enjoyable, it’s time for me to get back to work. We have one more week of class and a week of final exams (which I still have a considerable amount of studying to do for), then a month off for winter break! While I enjoy being at school, a break will be nice. But after a couple weeks away from campus, I will be ready for classes to start again.
