Westheimer Peace Symposium
October 19, 2011
Today I attended my first Westheimer Peace Symposium at Wilmington College! For my global issues class I had to attend at least one session throughout the day. However, if you went to other sessoins you could get extra credit. So, I decided that I would go to three! The first one I attended was a presentation given by Charles Fishman who discussed the uses of water and different statistics reguarding water usage. The second session I attended was a presentation on resolving the shared water issues given by Dr. Aaron Wolf. And finally the third session I chose to attend was the showing of the film Gasland. This film gave an interesting insight to the hydralic fracturing for natural gas. It explained the process of fracturing and all of the harmful effects to the environment and the people living near the sites.
Not only did I learn a lot today, but I also only had one class this morning and the rest of my classes were cancelled! Luckily this week is going by much faster because I cannot wait for the weekend!! I am going to a Luke Bryan concert with my boyfriend and some friends! Cannot wait:)
