October 11, 2008

The 2008 class of the Wilmington College Athletics Hall of Fame was honored during an induction dinner on campus Saturday evening.

Joining the Hall were Jenny (Eagan) Atkinson, JoAnne Ludmann, Steve Moyer and Wayne Stacy.

Atkinson '97 was an All-American member of the Wilmington women's basketball team. Introduced by WC women's coach Jerry Scheve, Atkinson described her basketball experiences at Wilmington as the most special part of her four years at Wilmington.

Ludmann '97 was an All-American soccer player for Wilmington. Introduced by WC teammate Becki (Opalek) Poeppelmeier, Ludmann said soccer was important, but her most treasured memories are inspired by friendships developed at Wilmington.

Moyer '80 was an All-American linebacker for the Quakers of the late '70s. Introduced by former WC coaching great and Hall of Famer Bill Ramseyer, Moyer said the credit and praise for his many accomplishments are the direct result of a loving God's blessing.

Stacy '91 was a football All-American and track and field record setter at Wilmington. Introduced by WC track and field head coach Ron Combs, Stacy said the accomplishments of his two-sport career were the result of his being in an environment that encouraged his growth.

The Hall of Fame inductees also were introduced during halftime ceremonies of Wilmington's Homecoming football game with Muskingum.
