Wilmington College alumnus Nick Kenney will be the American League’s athletic trainer Tuesday (July 10) for the 83rd annual Major League Baseball All Star Game at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City.

Kenney, a 1994 graduate of WC’s athletic training program, is the Kansas City Royals head athletic trainer.

Texas Rangers and American League All Star manager Ron Washington handpicked Kenney, who joined the Royals in 2010 as their head trainer. It will be Kenney’s first All Star Game appearance.

He previously held athletic training positions with the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds.

Kenney and the Kansas City Royals’ medical staff received Major League Baseball’s 2011 Dick Martin Award for having the healthiest team last season.
