2013 - 2014 Scholarship & Awards Program

The following scholarships and awards are available to first-time freshmen students entering in the 2013 fall semester and 2014 spring semester at Wilmington College. Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus. Scholarships and awards are renewable each year providing the student maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award.

Please Note: The Wilmington College Academic Achievement Scholarship, Awards of Circumstance and Transfer Awards are awarded at the time of admission. The Wilmington Scholars Program are by invitation only and the WC Departmental Awards and Heritage Awards require a scholarship application to be submitted. The scholarship applications will be available to students upon admission to the College.

Wilmington College Academic Awards

Wilmington Scholars Program
 

• Applicants must be accepted to the College no later than December 1st, 2013 in order to be considered for an invitation
  2014 Scholarship Competition Dates:
  1st Scholarship Competition January 18, 2014
  2nd Scholarship Competition February 1, 2014
  Make-Up Day February 2, 2014
  
• Students will be invited to compete for the following four year scholarships:
  
  Presidential - Full Cost of Attendance Awards (stipend totaling
  approximately $37,000 for the 2012-2013 academic year and over
  $125,000 for four years)
  
  Dean's - $22,500 per year
  
  Faculty - $20,000 per year
  
  Trustee - $17,500 per year
• Eligibility to participate will be based on prior academic performance
• Scholarships will not be combined with other Wilmington College awards
• Recipients must reside on campus

Wilmington College Achievement Scholarship

• Stipend ranges from $6,000 - $13,000
• Available regardless of need
• Awarded upon acceptance to the College
• Scholarships may be combined with other Wilmington College awards excluding the Wilmington Scholars Program awards
• Scholarship Criteria:
  
  $13,000 - Student must have a composite ACT of 27 or higher or and SAT score of 1220 (Critical Reading and Math only)
  $11,000 - Minimum of a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA AND and an ACT/SAT score ranging from 21/980 - 26/1210
  (SAT Critical Reading and Math only)
  $8,500 - Cumulative high school GPA range of a 3.0 - 3.49 AND and an ACT/SAT score ranging from 21/980 - 26/1210
  (SAT Critical Reading and Math only)
  $6,000 -  Minimum of a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA AND an ACT/SAT score ranging from 21/980 - 26/1210
  (SAT Critical Reading and Math only) -OR- A combination of a maximum cumulative high school GPA of 2.99 AND a composite ACT/SAT score ranging from a 23/1070 - 26/1210 (SAT Critical Reading and Math only)

Wilmington College Heritage Awards

Quaker Leader Scholarship

• $17,500 per year
• Applicants must be accepted to the College by March 1, 2014
• Scholarship application deadline: March 1, 2014
• Academic ability and leadership in weekly Quaker meeting
• Student must be a member of a Yearly Meeting
• Interview and essay
• Available regardless of need
• This scholarship will not be combined with other Wilmington College awards

Quaker Award

• $3,000 per year
• Applicants must be accepted to the College by March 1, 2014
• Scholarship application deadline: March 1, 2014
• Student must be a member of a Yearly Meeting or a graduate from a Quaker high school
• Available regardless of need

Legacy Award

• $3000 per year
• Student’s parent, step-parent, or grandparent must be a graduate of WC  *OR*
• Sibling must be attending Wilmington College during the 2013-2014 academic year
• Available regardless of need
  * Wilmington College reserves the right to modify these awards in the face of other Wilmington awards.

Wilmington College Awards of Circumstance

Multicultural Award

• $3,000 per year
• Available regardless of need.
• May be combined with other Wilmington College awards

Pathways Grant (First-time Freshmen Only)

• $2,500 per year
• Must have visited campus AND completed their FAFSA by March 1, 2014
• May be combined with other awards (except WC Scholars Program awards)

Gateway Grant (First-time Freshmen Only)

• $4,000 per year
• Must be a resident of: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee or Virginia
• May be combined with other awards

Wilmington College Departmental Scholarships

Art Department Scholarship

• $2,500 per year
• Applicants must be accepted to the College by February 1, 2014
• Scholarship application deadline:  February 1, 2014
• Academic eligibility: 2.75 cumulative GPA or ACT composite score of 20 (SAT Critical Reading and math combined scores of 940) or higher
• Must be accepted to the College
• Application form required by designated date
• Participation in competition program
• May be combined with other awards

Religion and Philosophy Department Scholarship

• $2,500 per year
• Applicants must be accepted to the College by February 1, 2014
• Scholarship application deadline: February 1, 2014
• Academic eligibility: 3.0 cumulative GPA and ACT composite score of 23 (SAT Critical Reading and math combined scores of 1060) or higher
• Must be accepted to the College
• Application form required by designated date
• Participation in competition program
• May be combined with other awards

Pre-Veterinary Department Scholarship

• $5,000 and $2,500 per year
• Applicants must be accepted to the College by February 1, 2014
• Scholarship application deadline: February 1, 2014
• Academic eligibility: ACT composite score of 24 (SAT Critical Reading and math combined scores of 1090) or higher
• Must be accepted to the College
• Application form required by designated date
• Participation in competition program
• May be combined with other awards

Theater Department Scholarship

• $2,500 per year
• Applicants must be accepted to the College by February 1, 2014
• Scholarship application deadline: February 1, 2014
• Academic eligibility: 2.75 cumulative GPA or ACT composite score of 20 (SAT Critical Reading and math combined scores of 940) or higher
• Must be accepted to the College
• Application form required by designated date
• Participation in competition program
• May be combined with other awards

Standard Transfer Awards

Transfer Honor Scholarship 1

• $10,000 per year
• Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework 
• Must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative college GPA
• May be combined with other awards
• Available regardless of need

Transfer Honor Scholarship 2

• $8,000 per year
• Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework
• Must have a cumulative college GPA between 3.0 and 3.49
• May be combined with other awards
• Available regardless of need

Transfer Achievement Grant

• $6,000 per year
• Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework 
• Must have a cumulative college GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
• May be combined with other awards
• Available regardless of need
