College Holding Family Weekend Sept. 14 and 15

Weekend Offers a Range of Activities for Young and Old, Including Quaker Sports, Family Competitions, Arts and Crafts, a Silent Auction and Culinary Delights

September 12, 2012

Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and other assorted relatives of Wilmington College students will converge upon the campus Friday and Saturday (Sept. 14 and 15) for a late summer weekend of fun and festivities.

WC’s annual Family Weekend offers a range of activities for young and old, including Quaker sports, family competitions, arts and crafts, a silent auction and culinary delights.

For those that arrive on Friday, families will have an opportunity to enjoy dinner with their WC student, followed by “Sundaes on Friday.” Table tennis and pool tournaments are included among the evening’s activities, along with creating a WC Family Weekend scrapbook page.

On Saturday, the College will provide a continental breakfast that features “Java with Janet” in which Janet Renshaw, general manager of WC’s Sodexo dining services, will be on hand to engage in conversation about the College’s many options for food service.

The Alumni Council is sponsoring a silent auction at which numerous donated items will be available for bidding — there’s sure to be some great deals on everything from local hotel stays to gift baskets, local dining and special services.

Following an opportunity for family photos, members of the Academic Affairs staff will be on hand to answer questions dealing with majors, classes, procedures and support.

All this and it’s not even noon yet.

The afternoon and evening are chock full of activities, including The Family Game, Scrapbooking Part II, glass painting, corn hole tournament and “Pregame with the President,” for which Jim and Sue Reynolds will host a gathering at their home before kickoffs of the football game versus Otterbein University (7 p.m.) and the men’s soccer game with Earlham (7:30 p.m.).
