Cast of 50 Set for College-Community Summer Theatre's 'Children of Eden'
Show Celebrates Summer Theatre's 40th Anniversary
May 30, 2012
Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre will present the musical Children of Eden as it observes its 40th summer season with four performances, July 19, 20 and 21, at 7:30 p.m., and July 22, at 2:30 p.m., in WC’s Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.
Director Steven Haines selected a cast of 50 for this completely restaged version of Children of Eden, a two-act musical by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Godspell).
Act One is a retelling of the story of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, and Cain and Abel, while Act Two retells the story of Noah and his family, the ark, the animals and the Great Flood.
“The bottom line is that this is a show about children and parents, testing boundaries, faith and reconciliation,” Haines said. “The show requires a very large cast and contains massive amounts of choral singing.”
Joining Haines on the production team are J. Wynn Alexander, set and costume designer; Becky Haines, lights and sound; Matt Spradlin, music director; Luke Williams, Haines’ assistant with vocal preparation and rehearsal keyboardist; and Cole Haugh, choreographer.
Alexander is cast in the role of the father, while Timothy Larrick and Gina Beck will portray Adam and Eve. Brent Hoggatt and Rachel Beck are the young Adam and Eve.
Also featured in the cast are: Connie Abirached, Joe Alexander, Mary Alexander, Caleb Beck, Kevin Berry, Tiffany Best, Cassy Brausch, Tina Brausch, Josh Coleman, Jessica Cunigan, Ruth Brindle Dobyns, Samantha Faris, Dean Feldmeyer, Derinda Fetters, Claudia Fowler, Lisa Geggie, David Halley, Cole Haugh, Emma Heys, Simon Heys, Tricia Heys.
